BURNT is a collection of small boards, bowls and trays made using the Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban. The wood is heavily charred, then brushed to remove the ash leaving behind a beautifully textured and intensely black surface. In this collection, we contrast the dark charred surface with other materials such as untreated wood, concrete, corian and acrylic. All surfaces are treated with a food safe penetrating wax for a durable water resistant finish.
